Open 7 days a week, 9am-6pm

The delicious smell of our home made soups is only surpassed by their taste and they come highly recommended. So do the bacon and egg rolls (messy but amazing!). We also have a variety of paninis, rolls, sandwiches, salads and savoury flans.

We bake fresh scones daily and always have hot puddings, cakes and tray bakes to tempt you – all home made. The children love our animal and tractor biscuits too.

Drop in for a coffee

Our coffee is made from Fairtrade 100% Arabica coffee beans. Tell us how you like it! You can also choose from a selection of teas and hot chocolate.

A refreshing range of cold drinks includes proper brewed Bundaberg ginger beer and fresh orange juice.

“...and you can order ahead and ask for a ‘take-out’ too”

Treasure trove of the best of Scottish

Lochend loves Scottish food and their shelves are packed with locally supplied honeys, chutneys, jams and other preserves plus oatcakes, clooties, bannocks, Scottish flours and oatmeals. There is also a selection of temptations from artisan pasta to mouthwatering meringues from further afield. Come and browse. There will be plenty to tempt you.

Bread

A rustic selection of artisan breads is supplied fresh every morning and sells quickly.

Giftware

Browse our diverse range of giftware ranging from candles and artwork to soaps and artwork around our walls.

Cheeses

We also stock Ayrshire’s wonderful Dunlop Dairy cheeses which have won numerous awards. Their story begins with no capital and a rundown farm, and through sheer hard work and determination their artisan cheeses can be found in the top Michelin Star Restaurants … and in Lochend Farm Shop. Definitely worth a try.

We are immensely proud to stock Puddledub pork and Buffalo Farm produce. The Mitchell’s Puddledub farm in Fife produces coveted bacon, gammon and sausages which have won wide acclaim including getting the ‘thumbs up’ from Scottish chef Nick Nairn and from ambassador for Scottish cooking, Lady Claire Macdonald who says it’s ‘the best bacon in Scotland’.

Nephew, Steve Mitchell is carrying on the family farming tradition with Buffalo Farm and specialises in Aberdeen Angus beef and Puddledub water buffalo (buffalo contains half the fat of beef and is lower in cholesterol). We also stock his Juicy Jacob lamb and venison.

Burgers and BBQ’s

People often order larger quantities of pork and buffalo burgers for barbecues. ‘Buffalo burgers are just that bit different’ says Lochend’s manager, ‘and if it’s a fundraising event, a quality product will always taste good and be a bit of a talking point’.

If you are organising a BBQ come and talk to our friendly staff about availability and cost.

Coffee, cake and a good book...

We have a big selection of second hands books which attracts lots of interest. There is always someone browsing through both fiction and non-fiction donations and looking for a bargain. We have reached a target of £31,000 for our local children’s hospice CHAS with the support of our visiting ‘bookworms’!

“...come and help us reach our target of £40,000”

We have also recently introduced WiFi– just ask for the password. Whilst you are checking your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram account, remember to take a ‘selfie’ of you and your friends!
